Going downtown, up north, city central/
33 1/3 is my tempo/
I'm coming from Warsaw, kid, now pay attention/
Left bank owes me all along the metro/
I got snubbed outta Plan B and do I give a damn/
I didn't go to 1500 since the opening/
The M1 line can take you crazy places if you want to get wasted/
But there's no place like the palace
I used to play all my shows on lower riverside/
Half squat, half amazing until it burned down/
One time someone busted window with a park bench/
And that was the end of our show with that Swedish band/
The scene moved to the east side of the city/
But I kind of grew up, discovered new joints and new bands/
And number one place that everybody loved to hate/
That was the palace, there was no place like the palace/
What was the place where everybody went to skate/
When half city was locked with skate-stoppers/
I've seen there some of the best jams/
Local kids doing their thing/
The kind of vibe you get on Larry Clark's best films/
Some of the people are still there, I used to know them/
I guess the place itself begun some of their problems/
One drunk himself stupid, other is reliant/
But I'll still shake hands/
'cause there's no place like the palace
It's like culture and science mixed into a palace/
Empire state building mixed with soviet dreams about it/
Some lady got unwanted orgasms from it's TV tower/
Thanks for the present, all praise goes to Joseph Stalin/
You can't miss it 'cause it's visible from every street/
So fucking ugly it became a modern masterpiece/
And everybody loves it, everybody but me/
But there are things about it that I like, I have to admit/
They got cats instead of mouse traps/
It's full of crystal chandeliers/
Planetarium takes you back to 1972/
Warsaw's sonic youth, gonna be there every weekend/
Culture and science often stands for modern music and drinking/
The kind of social club for 2 mln city/
Been rocking skyline of district since mid- 1950's/
Real fresh and real smooth, think about it/
Next time you'll visit my city/
There is no place like the palace
